Custom interiors, such as furniture and lighting, are often associated with unique spaces that require close coordination between the architecture and the client’s use of the space. For example, with a banquette that is built into a nook or a couch that is placed precisely within a room, the design, sizing and materials must fit with the architecture exactly. In one townhome Case Development designed an oval dining room to break up the uniformity of rectangular rooms and create a more sociable space. The one-of-a-kind mahogany dining table allows guests to see each other more easily, enhancing conversation. Centering two clusters of table legs gives every guest the best seat in the house. We provided a full design fit-out for the room, including a matching mahogany credenza sized and curved to fit one wall, a custom-shaped hand-knotted carpet that fits into the wood floor bordering the room, the fireplace mantle and lampshades for the antique chandelier.
